Always Have Ice Cream in the Freezer

I don't think this is learned, but rather stored knowledge in our genes!

Always have ice cream stocked in your freezer! Chocolate syrup, sprinkles, bananas, cones are great to have on hand too, but not necessary! Whipped cream, well, let say if you have cats, it is a must!
Doesn't matter what flavor...whatever is your favorite. I love strawberry, real vanilla, chocolate with brownies, strawberry cheesecake, peppermint candy cane around Christmas, Pina Colada in the summer! Mmmmm!

When I was little, my Uncle owned an ice cream parlor. The old kind with the long luncheonette counters with the stools that spun around, booths in the back and tiled floors! He made the best homemade ice cream you could ever have! My Mom would pile my sister and me into the car & make a special trip into Queens Village just for his ice cream! My favorite was walnut ice cream with real pieces of walnut in it! Hot summer nights and walnut ice cream ... what more could I ask for!

When is ice cream ever a bad idea? When you're happy, it makes you happier; soothes when you are sad; great for snack time; comforts a broken heart; makes little kids happy (big kids too); creates memorable moments between 2 people sharing a pint; a must for every birthday party; and kitty cats like it too!

My cat knows when it is ice cream time at night before I even reach the freezer! Once I actually get the container out...well, you would think I haven't fed her in a week! She knows she gets a little spoonful with some whipped cream (on a separate plate of course)! That is her midnight snack! Help me if I don't give her any... I won't get a moment of peace! I guess cats know what's good too!

So, at 3 o'clock in the morning, what do you think I am doing while I write this?!!!!

look...you can get strawberries stuffed with ice cream...how cool is that!!!

  1. My cats go nuts for ice cream too. However with 4 in the house I don't give it to them. I wouldn't ever get any peace. Now if it was a Turkey? I would have to lot them up just to be able to eat. Something about the aroma drives them wild. (Hugs)Indigo

I remember my hubby and I going to Thompsons Homemade Ice cream parlour when we were going together.I either got bananna-nut or raspberry but he always got butter/pecan.They made the best I ever had. We'd go for long drives and savor every bite. One time we went through a town called Paris((funny we live there now-well in the same county)) anyway when I got home my dad asked where we went I said Paris...I think he got mad thinking I was being a smart mouth,LOL

  3. When I was very young I remember going with Linda, my sister, to Weber's Dairy in Joliet, IL. It had the long counter and was the brightist interior with mainly white walls and a special dairy smell. It was one of two favorite places in town. Across the river in main downtown still exists the Rialto Theater. I believe it is a historical registered site now. It was built at a time when plays were put on before the movie industry. Going into the entrance past the street lobby became a maginificent hallway with what I call royal large ornate chairs. Just several of them for someone to sit on like in a royal castle. Everything inside was like visiting a king and queens royal residence. In the main movie theater was a huge ceiling with ornate oval center that looked like people could walk inside of the oval around the perimeter. There was some kind of maintance stairway leading to it probably. I always wanted to be able to go up there and see the view. Anyway I finally looked to see if you posted and am glad I could read about your ice cream enjoyment. I eat low fat yogurt daily and mix vanilla with one of those small cups of sugar free chocolate pudding. mark/salty
